1) Be a pro.
Just because you work from home, with nobody looking over your shoulder, doesn’t mean you need to goof off. A pro gets in and gets the job done first, plays later. Do the work first, get it done, then you have all night to do whatever you want. Nice and easy.
2) Try to get most of your work done in the morning.
Early morning is the absolute best time of day to get work done. You are most focused and haven’t been bombarded with any possible distractions yet. Waking up in the morning and getting things done should be your routine. Good routine = good results. No routine = no results.
3) Have a dedicated working space.
You definitely need a dedicated working space. A dedicated office is the best option, but not everyone has a spare bedroom that can be turned into an office. No problem, just make the best with whatever space you have available. Anything can work, you just need to improvise with what you have available. If possible – have a separate desk for work and work only. Keep it clean and clutter free. Experiment with a DIY standing desk, nobody is watching so who cares how “weird” it looks?
4) Keep and follow a To-Do list.
The best way to plan your workday is to keep a to-do list of everything you need to accomplish, right down to the smallest thing. Tracking eliminates anxiety of accidently forgetting something. Your brain is meant for work, not storing millions of things. For that we have paper and computers. You don’t track and something eventually blows up in your face. Trust me, I’ve been there a million times.
